Insights on Sydney’s real estate

Australian properties are known to be one of the most expensive across the globe. Nonetheless, even with Sydney offering a median house price at $850,000, and into the millions in some suburbs, according to an interesting real estate article by Kristen Craze of New.com.au, there are in fact other cities in the country that offer more affordable house and property prices against their international counterparts.

For those looking into Paris, Hong Kong, London and New York, the News.com.au article has offered a rundown of properties that can be pitted against the world’s most liveable cities – at the same price.

For instance, for around $850,000, a person can get a very basic three-bedroom home on 582 sqm in Revesby. This is around 29 km from Sydney’s CBD. As for the same price in an area like San Francisco, and a 14 hour flight away, you can get a three-bedroom house on the suburban San Francisco. It comes complete with a fireplace, patio at the back and panoramic views of the area. It is also just 7.4km from the CBD.

Melbourne real estate

If you have $500,000, you can get a two-bedroom house already in Melbourne. Most properties priced at this range are also already close to train stations and schools. The area is around 12km from the centre of the city. In Quebec, you stand a chance of working a retro-home with three bedrooms. While the rooms are more, the properties can date as far back as 1966. They are also around 13.7km far from the centre of Montreal.

Brisbane real estate

Got $500,000 to spare? You can get a ready-to-renovate three-bedroom suburban house on 607sqm in Brisbane for that price. You are also likely to get a property with an open plan living layout complete with air-conditioning and some deck to enjoy. As for the same price in Spain, you can move into a renovated 65 sqm two-bedroom apartment most likely inside a gothic building in Barcelona. The building will most likely have the double-glazed balconies, mosaic floor and all the traditional accessories.

Of course, the region and property to buy will still depend on your situation. Nonetheless, this shows that despite Sydney having a notorious reputation for expensive properties, some cities and regions in Australia still offer good real estate deals.
