Why winter could be the next best thing for property selling
Traditionally, experts advised against selling during winter but tides are changing and you may find better deals during winter than in spring. A new report from ABC says that one retail expert claims that traditional wisdom no longer applies for the current market. While it is true that many properties do not appear well during winter, it is also not true anymore that spring is the best time to wait for better prices.
“You do have some construction issues where you might see some dampness occur, and it’s obviously colder and a bit unpleasant,” Greville Pabst told 774 ABC Melbourne’s Hilary Harper.
“Often in winter I see the best results,” he said.
Moreover, the expert added that based on experience, people could see better results during winter compared to spring due to supply and demand.
“There’s still a pool of buyers looking to get into the market,” he said.
There are a smaller number of properties for the buyers.
“The agents that I do speak with are telling me that there is quite a shortage of stock,” he said.
The number of properties sold or clearance rates has also been phenomenal. For property owners looking for a good price may do well to try and test out the market during winter. Of course, it is important to present the property well enough to attract the right target market.
